Li Jianqiang, pen name Liu Lu, a graduate from China Literature Department of China People University and Economics Department of China University of Political Science and Law. He has held a variety of positions: teacher of a middle school, reporter, and lawyer. Mr. Li began his literature writing in 1986 and was forced to resigned from his working unit because of his screen play “The Falling Sun” and “The Blooming White Flower on the Chest” which were based on the 1989 student pro-democracy movement. He started his criminal lawyer career in 1994. His license was revoked by the authority in November 2003 because of human rights cases. With many efforts, it was reinstated later. He is the defense lawyer for many famous dissidents who promote freedom of speech, such as Du Daobin, Liu Di, Luo Yongzhong, Yang Tianshui and Li Yuanlong.
